LAWRENCE REDMOND, a native born Washingtonian, is a product of the area’s educational and artistic institutions. A freelance actor for 40 years, he is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Over his four decade career, he has performed in over 150 productions and has played in every genre from children’s theatre, non-matrix site-specific events, and experimental works to world premieres, Off-Broadway hits, musicals, and the classical theatre canon.

Originally trained as a Director and Designer, he is a nine-time individual nominee and a member of seven nominated ensembles of the Helen Hayes Award, and received the Award for Kit Gill in No Way to Treat a Lady and Lenny in The Rink, both at Signature Theatre. He is a multi-year recipient of the Artist Fellowship Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities; the Theatre Lobby’s 1997 Mary Goldwater Award; a 2023 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow, and the 2023 Anderson-Hopkins Award for Theatre Excellence, awarded to Theatre Artists who have concentrated their creative energies for over a decade in the Washington Metro Area.
