LAWRENCE REDMOND, a native born Washingtonian, is a product of the area’s educational and artistic institutions. A freelance actor for 40 years, he is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Over his four decade career, he has performed in over 150 productions and has played in every genre from children’s theatre, non-matrix site-specific events, and experimental works to world premieres, Off-Broadway hits, musicals, and the classical theatre canon.

Theatregoers have seen him at The Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theater, Arena Stage, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Signature Theatre, Round House Theatre, Studio Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Theatre J, GALA Hispanic Theatre, MetroStage, Washington Stage Guild, Folger Theatre, and Source Theatre Company. He has performed on National Tour in Guys and Dolls, and regionally at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cleveland Playhouse, The Human Race Theatre, and Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse.

Originally trained as a Director and Designer, he is a nine-time individual nominee and a member of seven nominated ensembles of the Helen Hayes Award, and received the Award for Kit Gill in No Way to Treat a Lady and Lenny in The Rink, both at Signature Theatre. He is a multi-year recipient of the Artist Fellowship Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities; the Theatre Lobby’s 1997 Mary Goldwater Award; a 2023 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow, and the 2023 Anderson-Hopkins Award for Theatre Excellence, awarded to Theatre Artists who have concentrated their creative energies for over a decade in the Washington Metro Area.
